Where practice meets possibility

At Samata Yoga Studio, we believe everyone who walks through our doors has something meaningful to offer. Whether you're new to yoga or have been teaching for years, we're all students here — learning, growing, and supporting each other.

Samata means “balance” or “equanimity” in Sanskrit and that spirit is at the heart of everything we offer. Our classes are designed to meet you where you are, supporting your physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Words from our community

"Having practiced yoga for 26 years, I was longing for a devotional yoga practice at a studio that felt like "home." I have found that among the community that is Samata, with its committed teachers and students who come together with shared purpose. It is a place of study, solace, and connection, in which the well-balanced classes include pranayama, meditation, asana, and introspection. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special space for yoga."

FAQs

  • Yoga is an ancient practice that invites us to reconnect with the body, mind, and breath. It weaves together movement (āsana), breathwork (prāṇāyāma), and stillness to help us cultivate awareness, presence, and balance, both on and off the mat.

At Samata, our classes are accessible to all, whether you’re brand new or a seasoned practitioner. Our knowledgeable teachers offer clear cues and thoughtful variations to support students at every stage of their journey.

  • First of all, welcome! 🩵

You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or know any Sanskrit to begin. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to explore.

At Samata, we offer a supportive environment where you can move at your own pace. Our teachers provide clear guidance, offer plenty of variations, and encourage questions. Most classes begin with grounding breathwork and meditation, build energy through movement, and end with stillness.

If you're new, we encourage you to take advantage of our intro offer, which includes one month of unlimited classes plus a private discussion with a teacher. This session is a great way to discuss your goals, ask questions, and get personalized guidance on the classes that will best support you.

We keep our space non-heated — warm but comfortable, so you can focus on your breath and body without overstimulation. You won’t hear music with lyrics in our classes, just simple sounds (or silence) that support your ability to tune inward.

It’s a calm, grounded environment where you’re encouraged to show up just as you are.

  • Wear something comfortable that you can move freely in — think soft, breathable clothing. For yin classes, it can be nice to dress in layers so you can adjust as your body warms up or cools down.

Yoga practiced barefoot so there’s no need for shoes once you’ve entered the studio space.
